A Berlin cushion contributes to slowing down traffic and improves passive road safety.
Our Berlin cushion is made of vulcanised synthetic rubber that ensures durability. The Belgian regulations require that the Berlin cushion has a white border all around the cushion. To increase the visibility even more, our Berlin cushion has incorporated three reflective white arrows and cat eyes.
The Berlin cushion comes in red or black and consists of 4 or 6 elements (200 x 180 or 300 x 180 cm) that are connected at the bottom with metal H profiles. This prevents the elements from moving apart as a result of passing traffic.
The necessary plugs and bolts for fixing are included as standard, as well as the colored caps to neatly seal the recesses for the bolts afterwards.
A Berlin cushion can be glued on the road surface. This gives even greater adhesion, which can be useful when the installation is done on busy roads with a lot of HGV's. Glueing, however, is not absolutely necessary and can make the removal of the Berlin cushion more difficult later on.
If you decide to also glue your Berlin cushion, we recommend a two-component polyurethane glue. Traffic-Shop does not supply glues.
The Berlin cushion comes packed in a wooden crate containing all the elements, fasteners and protective caps. We have crates with one or two Berlin cushions.
The Berlin cushion is intended to maintain a traffic speed of 30 km/h. They are designed in such a way that larger vehicles, such as buses, can run over the cushion without causing discomfort to passengers. We also recommend that you take cyclists into account when positioning a Berlin cushion. It is often quite possible to leave enough space alongside the cushion.
Traffic-Shop is happy to provide you with guidance when you are considering installing a Berlin cushion.
